Why is Key West marketing guru George Murphy smiling? Because he has donated over $1800 to local charities since the launch of his Key West Bar Card on January 7th of this year!
In case you don’t already know, The Key West Bar Card is a two-for-one drink card good for your first round of drinks at ten popular local watering holes.
Q: How does the card work?
Cards cost $10 and are valid for the 2010 calendar year. The card holder presents the card at participating bars when ordering their first drink and receives their second drink for free.
Q: Where can I use a Bar Card?
A: There are ten locations on the 2010 cards:
Schooner Wharf, The Bottle Cap, Cowboy Bill’s, Hog’s Breath, The Bull, Grimm’s Grill, In Kahoots, 801 Bourbon, Dante’s and The Pier House
Q: What does the Bar Card have to do with charity?
A: Ten percent of the purchase price of the card goes directly to a local charity such as The Marc House, AIDS Help, Toys for Tots and Monroe Relay for Life. Each month a different charity reaps the benefits of card holders’ bar hopping.
Q: How do I get a Key West Bar Card?
A: I’m so glad you asked! Cards may be purchased directly from the website. Just click on the link Key West Bar Card to the right under “Blog roll.” Cards are also for sale at these fine locations:
Fast Buck Freddie’s
The Restaurant Store
Key West Express Ferry Terminal

Oh, I almost forgot something very important: Do not stiff the bartender on your free drink. The “charity” part refers to the 10% profits going directly to a charity, NOT the bartender’s service. But you already knew that!
